1922 – 2015
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Rolande Elizabeth Gaudreau, 92, died Friday, Jan. 9, in the presence of family in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Rolande was born in Lewiston on Aug. 17, 1922, to Elizabeth and Lorenzo Pelletier. On Aug. 8, 1942, she was united in marriage to Lorenzo “Larry” Gaudreau. They shared 72 wonderful years together; he was the love of her life.
While raising her four children, Rolande worked in the family businesses: Gaudreau’s Market and The Hamburg House in Lewiston. In 1975, they relocated to Farmingdale. She worked for the State Taxation Department in Augusta, until her retirement in 1983.
Rolande then enjoyed many wonderful years with family and friends at their cottage in Sebago Lake and at their new home in “La Casa” in North Port, Fla. Rolande’s love of people and her outgoing personality was exemplified all her life with her involvement in the communities she lived in. Her final residence at the Lexington Manor of Port Charlotte graced her with more love and the care she greatly deserved.
Rolande is survived by her husband, Lorenzo; her children, Therese (Bill) Slattery of Punta Gorda, Fla., Diane (Bob) Kelly of Appleton, Wis., Lorraine (John) Brennan of Windham and Marc Gaudreau of North Port, Fla.; her grandchildren, Kathleen (Jarrett) Moore, John Scott (Tricia) Brennan, Elizabeth (Collin) Fowler, Brian (Megan) Kelly, Matthew (Kathleen) Kelly and Adam (Kari) Kelly; and her eight great-grandchildren, Keegan, Aiden, Nolan, Emma, Abigail, Alexander, Mason and Elin. She is also survived by a sister, Dorothy St. Hilaire, of Auburn; a brother, Robert Pelletier, of Dexter Pond; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; an infant son, Robert; and her brothers, Norman, Raymond and Gerard Pelletier.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the caregivers at Port Charlotte Rehabilitation. Rolande will be deeply missed by her family and all those blessed to have known her. It is said that “she never met a stranger.”
