PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Sylvia Mae Hodgkins, 80, of North Port, Fla., and formerly of Farmington, passed peacefully on Thursday morning, Jan. 15, at Royal Palm Retirement Center in Port Charlotte, Fla.
She was born in Farmington on March 17, 1934, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Dennison) Hodgkins. She received her education in Farmington schools.
For 14 years, she served as the town clerk and treasurer for the town of Farmington. For 35 years, she was an administrative assistant at the University of Maine at Farmington.
She was a former member of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church in Farmington, where she also was a member of the Golden Rule and the Philathea Class. She was also a member of Farmington Genealogy Society and after moving to North Port, Fla., in 2005, became a member of the North Port Community United Church of Christ.
Sylvia is survived by two brothers, Bruce Hodgkins and his wife, Pat, of North Port, Fla., and Dennis Hodgkins and his wife, Edwina, of West Springfield, Mass.; four nieces and one nephew; and four grandnieces and three grandnephews.
