ROCKLAND (AP) — A former Maine jail guard has been sentenced to one year in prison on charges of sexually assaulting three female inmates.

WABI-TV reported that 62-year-old Richard Wellingon pleaded no contest on Friday to unlawful sexual contact and unlawful touching.

Prosecutors said Wellington, a former guard at the Knox County jail, molested the women over nine months beginning in November of 2012.

One woman told police that he provided her with candy bars in exchange for sexual acts.

Wellington also must serve three years of probation.

On Friday, Wellington also pleaded no contest to domestic violence terrorizing accusing him of threatening to shoot his wife in September.
