1941 – 2015

BELT, Mont. — Gary Michael Vye, 73, of Belt, Mont., passed away on Friday, Jan. 9.

Gary was born in Lewiston on June 7, 1941, to Robert and Bella Vye. He retired from Malmstrom Air Force Base as a master sergeant with military honors. He later worked at the Pre-Release Center in Great Falls, Mont., until he fully retired.

Gary loved hunting and fishing. He also loved the coast of Maine, where he spent much of his time while visiting. We will always remember his appetite for lobsters and clams.

Gary is survived by his wife, Nadine; daughters, Patti (Scott) Poulin of Maine, Sharon (Allan) Smith of Nevada, Shelly Shore of Nebraska, Shana (Greg) Chapman, Michelle Vye, Vanessa (Cody) Hodges and Amanda Vye, all of Great Falls, Mont.; two sisters, Mary Sylvain-Leonas and husband, Frank, of Greene and Jill Arsenault and husband, Daniel, of Auburn; one brother, Robert Footman and wife, Shirley, of Greene; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Faith Footman and Frances Bishop; and one brother, Randy Vye.
