1919 – 2015

FARMINGTON — Ione B. Ray, 95, of Farmington, passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington, where she had been a resident for the last 10 years, surrounded by her loving family.

Ione, or “Gram,” was born July 21, 1919, a daughter of Carlton and Eunice (Peck) Bubier. She attended local schools and was raised on a farm with many siblings. She married Russell E. Ray in 1950, and together they shared 30 years of marriage until his passing in 1980.

Ione loved to go camping and had many special memories at Chain of Ponds. She enjoyed cooking, particularly cookies and pies, and was a member of the Senior Citizens Club. Ione especially loved spending time with her grandson, Mathew, and being a resident at Pinewood Terrace, loving everyone there. She was a light to all who knew her and will certainly be missed.

She is survived by her daughter, June Boyd of Strong; a grandson, Mathew Boyd and his wife, Eva, of Strong; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Gary Boyd; and all of her siblings.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the employees at Pinewood Terrace, Dr. Ann Schwink of Strong and the nurses of Beacon Hospice, who helped care for her.
