LIVERMORE FALLS — Treat Memorial Library has several activities planned to beat the winter blues.
On Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. all area teens are invited to an informational meeting about starting a writing group at the library. All are welcome whether interested in writing fiction, nonfiction (including memoirs), fan fiction, short stories, novels or whatever your imagination leads you to. If there is enough interest, a writing group for adults could be started as well.
Homeschooling parents, or those thinking of becoming one, are invited to the Home School Meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12. If you are curious about homeschooling, this is an opportunity to talk to parents who have been through the process of getting started. If you are currently homeschooling, this is an opportunity to let the library know how it can better serve you and your family. What programs would you like to see in the library? What materials could the library provide?
A special Cabin Fever Family Story Time will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20. Get out of the house and dig into the craft supplies as the library hosts a crafty free-for-all. Preschool Story Time is Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Family Story Time (with the exception of the 21st this month) is Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Have a favorite author or suggestion for a theme? Let staff members Brianna Rush or Nick Berry know.
A Polymer Clay Workshop will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. Staff member Elizabeth Rosenbaum will instruct participants how to work with polymer clay, specifically the cane method, which makes lovely details within a design. The library will provide materials. This workshop is for those 12 and older and preregistration is required. Visit or call the library to register.
The knit/crochet group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24. Come if you would like some help with a project or just want to socialize while working on your latest creation. Incidentally, the library has just added some new craft books thanks to a generous donation, so check those out as well.
A new policy allows new adult books to be checked out for two weeks now (as opposed to the old policy of one week). If you enjoyed the latest book you checked out, new or old, be sure to fill out a Good Reads card at the circulation desk to make a recommendation to other patrons.
Any questions or for more information, call the library at 897-3631. Patrons can view the catalog and log into their library accounts at treat.biblionix.com/catalog. Once you log in, you can manage your reserves, renewals, etc.
