LEWISTON — Saint Dominic Academy students will come together and employ their artistic talents and enthusiasm to create artwork that will brighten up hallways and open spaces at several nursing homes, retirement homes and assisted living facilities in the Lewiston-Auburn area.
All of the students at Saint Dominic Academy’s Auburn campus (grades 7-12) will be bussed to the school’s Lewiston campus, on 17 Baird Ave., to work with the grade-school students in designing and creating the art on Friday, Jan. 30.
The art will be donated to St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, Lewiston; Clover Health Care, Auburn; Montello Heights, Lewiston; The Chapman House, Auburn; Marshwood Center, Lewiston; Oak Park Apartments, Lewiston; and other facilities.
The service project is part of the annual Maine Catholic Schools Week (Jan. 25-30) which celebrates the mission of Catholic Schools: to evangelize students by nourishing faith and encouraging academic excellence while accentuating the importance of community and service in a nurturing environment.
As part of the celebration, Saint Dominic Academy will host a variety of special events. For a complete schedule of Maine Catholic Schools Week activities at Saint Dominic Academy, visit www.portlanddiocese.org/catholic-schools-week-saint-dominic-academy.
