1976 – 2015

LEWISTON — Ryan R. Charest, 38, of Lewiston, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Lewiston on June 23, 1976, a son of Denise Dubreuil Charest of Lewiston and Richard Charest of St. Petersburg, Fla. He attended local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School as a member of the Class of 1994.

Ryan worked as an electrician throughout the United States, a trade he learned from his father. Ryan was a dedicated Patriots and Bruins fan and played hockey and baseball while in high school. He loved softball and cooking, especially for his family.

Ryan was an avid reader, especially enjoying World War II documentaries. He enjoyed playing World of Warcraft with his nephew, Brayden, and shared his love of reading, buying and trading books with his niece, Nevaeh; they were both a huge part of his world and the light of his life.

Besides his mother and father, he is survived by his brother, Matthew Charest and his wife, Erica, of Minot; his nephew, Brayden Charest; and niece, Nevaeh Charest of Minot. He also leaves several aunts and uncles, Richard and Claire Metivier of Lewiston, Diane Green and Leonard Childress of Lewiston and Debra Ann and Clayton Matthews of Turner; uncle, Raynald Charest and family of Freeport; aunt, Rena and Eric Dunn and family of Yarmouth; uncle, Robert and Laurie Charest and family of Sudbury, Mass.; many loving cousins, Thomas and Tiffany Metivier and family, Amy and Brian Landry and family of Lewiston, Brian Goulet of Seattle, Wash., and Angela and Micheal Saltis and family of Auburn, Clayton and Kayla Matthews and family of Harpswell and Kim and Patrick Blais and family of Lewiston; and lastly, his loving dog, Nova, whom he loved with all of his heart and who will now stay behind to watch over and care for his mother until they all meet again.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to everyone in the ICU unit at Central Maine Medical Center. Your efforts and care will never be forgotten.
