1922 – 2015

AUBURN — Rita Leona Roy, 92, passed away on Friday, Jan. 23, at Clover Living Center in Auburn.

She was born on Oct. 20, 1922, the daughter of the late Onesime and Rose Vermette. Rita was a Lewiston native, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1941.

She was last employed by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, from which she retired in 1990. Apart from work, her main priority and interest was raising her family.

Rita was married to Ernest Joseph Roy in Rumford on Jan. 30, 1960. They were married for more than 46 years until Ernest’s passing in December 2006.

She is survived by her two children, Ernest and his wife, Colleen, of Northfield, N.H., and David and his wife, Evelyn, of Nashua, N.H.; along with her grandchildren, Matthew, Angelique, Michael, Marc and Amy Roy of Northfield, N.H.
