1919 – 2015

AUBURN — Jeannine E. Dionne, 95, of 100 Campus Ave., and formerly of 101 Walnut St., both in Lewiston, died Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

Born in Lewiston on July 14, 1919, she was a daughter of Rosario and Jeannette Martin Dionne. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School and the Auburn School of Commerce.

Jeannine was employed for many years as a secretary for the Lewiston Police Department.

A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, she enjoyed embroidery and other crafts, but her greatest joy came for caring for others, especially her father and later, her brother, the Rev. Martin Dionne, O.P., during their long illnesses. She was devoted to her family and generous to a fault.

Survivors include a brother, Gillis Dionne; a sister, Yzette Vachon, both of Lewiston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, the Rev. Martin Dionne and Rosario Dionne Jr.; a sister, Sister Roselle Dionne; and an infant sister, Alicia.
