FRYEBURG — Fryeburg police said a local man arrested in connection with a series of burglaries during the summer has been arrested for spitting on an officer.
Cameron Henry, 20, was arrested around midnight Wednesday when police responded to a Main Street residence for a report that a male was ‘out of control,’ Fryeburg police Chief Joshua Potvin said in a news release.
Officers discovered ‘extensive’ damage to property and personal belongings owned by a relative. When police attempted to restrain him, Henry reportedly attempted to flee on foot and resisted arrest. During the course of the struggle, he spit on an Oxford County Sheriff’s Office deputy, who had responded to the scene to assist, Potvin said.
Henry was charged with three misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, failure to submit to arrest and violating the conditions of release, as well as felony assault on an officer. He was transported to Oxford County Jail, where he was held without bail until a hearing, expected Friday.
In July, Henry was arrested after police caught him in the act of breaking into the Quinns Jockey Cap convenience store, and a week later linked him to a string of car burglaries during Fourth of July weekend. He was indicted on those charges by a grand jury in December.
