1921 – 2015

AUBURN — Irene H. Rogers 93, formerly of Arkwright Ave., Lewiston, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

She was born in Lewiston on March 5, 1921, the daughter of John and Irene (Gahagan) Hartley. Irene was a graduate of Lewiston High School and the former Bliss College.

After her education, she worked as a telephone operator during World War II.

Following the war, she married her husband, Kenneth, and enjoyed homemaking, her family, and dancing at the many pavilions in the local area.

She was very proud of her Irish and English heritage.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth E. Rogers Jr. and his wife, Josette (Lacasse) Rogers, of Lewiston.

Irene’s family cannot begin to express the care and dignity given her by The Lamp of Lisbon and Androscoggin Hospice of Auburn.
