CARIBOU — The Maine state fire marshal’s office says an 18-year-old Caribou man likely started the fire that killed him and burned a relative’s home.

Authorities say firefighters found Jordan McEwen in the bedroom of a mobile home just after 10 a.m. on Monday. McEwen began living with relatives in November after the apartment house where he formerly lived was damaged by fire.

Fire marshals say he was suspected of setting the fire in November and likely also set the Monday fire.

McEwen’s mother and brother also lived in the home. Neither was there at the time of the fire.
