1920 – 2015

LEWISTON — Liane Moreau, 94, formerly of Randall Road in Lewiston, passed away Monday, Feb. 2.

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 30, 1920, a daughter of Ernest and Lydia Heneault Toussaint, she was the eldest of nine children. Liane married Romeo Moreau on May 30, 1943; he passed away on April 9, 2004.

Liane was employed for many years as a weaver for Bates Manufacturing and retired from Arrowhart Electrical.

A member of Holy Family Church, Prince of Peace Parish, she enjoyed playing cards with her brother, her sisters and a cousin two to three times per week. Liane enjoyed being surrounded by her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a devout Catholic who dedicated and volunteered many weekly hours to tidy the church, until she reached 90-plus years. Her greatest joy came from her ministry as a Eucharistic minister, beginning in the early 1970s when she delivered Holy Communion to the sick and elderly while she was strong and healthy, until she resigned at the age of 90.

Survivors include her children, Maurice and his wife, Barbara Hebert Moreau, Robert and his wife, Rosalie Buzzell Moreau, Patricia Moreau and her husband, Elmer Berry, Bertrand and his wife, Suzanne LeCompte Moreau, Daniel and his wife, Louise Cyr Moreau, and Richard and his wife, Paula Higgins Moreau. Besides her children, survivors include six sisters, Mary Jane LeFebvre, Priscilla Jolicoeur, Sister Theresa Toussaint, Lorraine Quintal and husband, Wilfred, Constance Roy and Doris Saltis and husband, Michael. She is also survived by a very close cousin and best friend, Charlotte Labbay. In addition, she is survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.

Liane was predeceased by her husband, Romeo Moreau; her brother, Romeo Toussaint; and her sister, Madeline Boulay.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ouellette’s Foster Home while Liane was under assisted living, especially Ron and Pat for their hospice care and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for their compassionate care.
