SALEM — Dan Luce nailed a key free throw with two seconds left in regulation to give Mt. Abram a 43-42 win over Oak Hill in a late-season MVC boys’ basketball tilt Wednesday.

Tristan Dyer led the Roadrunners (4-14) with 18 points, while Hunter York chipped in with eight.

Drew Gamage paced the Raiders (4-14) with 12 points, while Evan Boston and Jonah Martin each added six.

Rangeley 52, Vinalhaven 46

RANGELEY — Rangeley used a 20-11 run in the fourth quarter to secure a 52-46 victory over Vinalhaven in a boys’ basketball tilt Wednesday.

Timmy White led the Lakers (6-11) with 16 points, while Kyle LaRochelle added 13, highlighted by four key free throws in the final minute of play. Orrin Mitchell also contributed with nine points and eight rebounds.

Vinalhaven (8-7) was paced by Cody Hamilton with a solid 13-point performance.

Mountain Valley 58, Carrabec 51

NORTH ANSON — After trailing by three at the half, Mountain Valley erupted for 21 points in the third frame to post a 58-51 victory over Carrabec on Wednesday. 

Caleb Gauvin led the Falcons with 20 points, while Brad Marshall chipped in with 12. 

The Cobras (1-17) were paced by Dustin Crawford with a game-high 29 points, their only player in double figures. 

Edward Little 80, Mt. Blue 29

AUBURN — After jumping out to a 17-point lead in the first frame, Edward Little never eased off the gas and raced away to post a 80-29 win over Mt. Blue Wednesday evening. 

Charles Cedre led the Red Eddies (16-1) with 14 points, while Kaleb Main chipped in with 13. Thomas Cedre also contributed with 11 points, while Ian Mileikis tallied 10 in a well-balanced attack. 

The Cougars (2-15) put up 16 points in the first half and never quite hit their offensive stride in the final quarters. 

Winthrop 88, Telstar 45

BETHEL — Jacob Hickey scored 17 points and Bennett Brooks and Matt Sekerak each added 13 to lead Winthrop to an 88-45 win over Telstar in MVC boys’ basketball Wednesday.

Dakota Carter added 12 for the Ramblers (15-2).

Mike Dougherty led the Rebels (6-11) with 12 while Tanner Wheeler added nine.

The Ramblers opened the game with a 27-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Winthrop had the lead up to 56-17 by halftime.

Spruce Mountain 65, Gardiner 49

JAY — Deonte Ring scored 23 points Wednesday night, and Spruce Mountain stayed in command throughout for a key 65-49 KVAC Class B boys’ basketball victory over Gardiner.

Anthony York added 19 points and Peter Theriault 14 for the Phoenix (10-7). Jordan Lamb led Gardiner (6-11) with 15 points. Brad Weston chipped in 11.

Rangeley 72, Vinalhaven 21

RANGELEY — The Rangeley girls’ basketball team ended its regular season Wednesday with a 72-21 EWC win over Vinalhaven. The Lakers finish the regular season 17-0.

Seve Deery-DeRaps led the second-seeded Lakers with 21 points and five steals. Taylor Esty added 14 points and nine rebounds while Blayke Morin chipped in 12 points.

Taylor Littlefield led the Vikings (6-9) with seven points.

Rangeley opened a 16-5 lead in the first quarter and had the advantage up to 30-20 by halftime.

Lewiston 4, Thornton 2

LEWISTON — Jean-Luc Dostie led a three-goal flurry in the third period as Lewiston skated to a 4-2 late-season victory over Thornton Wednesday evening. 

Joey Frechette and Griffin Wade also tallied for the Blue Devils (9-4-1) in that key final stanza. Brendon Croteau scored Lewiston’s first goal eight minutes into the contest. 

Chandler Bilodeau and Eric Profenno each found the net for Thornton. Nick Hawk handled netminding duties for Lewiston, while Andrew Hewitt worked between the pipes for Thornton. 

Skowhegan-Lawrence 5, Edward Little 2

AUBURN —Andrew Carpenter scored three goals and had two assists to lead Skowhegan-Lawrence to a 5-2 win over Edward Little in boys’ hockey Wednesday.

Skowhegan-Lawrence built a 3-1 and were up by as many as 5-1 before two late EL goals.

Cody Martin and Trey Michonski each added a goal and two assists for Skowhegan-Lawrence. EL got two goals and an assist from Ryan Rady and a goal and two assists from Liam Benson.

Carpenter scored in the first period for the 1-0 lead. Then goals by Martin and Michonski made it 3-0 before EL (7-7) got a Rady goal late in the second. Carpenter then opened the third with a pair of goals for the 5-1 lead.
