BANGOR — A Guilford group home resident who had been missing since late last month has been found safe in Rumford, an investigator with the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office said late Monday afternoon.
Mary Jane Giddings, 22, who is disabled and a ward of the state, was reported missing after she left her group home on the afternoon of Jan. 31, the sheriff’s office said in a news release posted on its Facebook page.
A friend claimed he dropped Giddings off at her sister’s residence in Biddeford, however, checks by the Biddeford Police Department at Giddings’ sister’s home yielded no results last week. Giddings had last been seen walking in Biddeford.
Giddings eventually was located around 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Rumford residence of another sister, Sgt Mike Gould said. He said that Giddings was placed back into the custody of the state Department of Health and Human Service and was being taken to the hospital for an evaluation.
