1930 – 2015
AUBURN — Norma Faith Wagner, 84, a resident of Bolster Heights Health Care for the past three years and previously of Turner, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 7.
She was born in Livermore Falls on Aug. 11, 1930, a daughter of Howard and Vera Estelle (Wills) Wagner. She was a 1948 graduate of Wilton Academy and a 1954 graduate of Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass.
Her calling in life was to work with people. Originally, she intended on pursuing a career in nursing, but for health reasons was redirected to her lifelong career of teaching. She taught in Ohio for many years and returned to her beloved home state and introduced and taught special education in both Skowhegan and Auburn schools.
A woman of strong faith, she was an active member of the Auburn Church of the Nazarene, where she served on the church board and as Sunday school superintendent for many years. She also served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Missionary Society, taught quilting and participated in the weekly craft fairs at the church. She also raised money for children to attend summer church camp.
She was a former member of the Turner Evening Extension and taught both hand and machine quilting locally.
Many will remember her lovely flower gardens and her hospitality at her Country Air Gift Shop that she owned and operated out of her home on Main Street in Turner.
She is loved by her sisters, Lynette Bradford and Charlotte Ryan, both of Turner; and six nieces and nephews, Suzanne Madden, Leta Dinnean, Laurel DeLige, John M. Ryan Jr., Robert P. Ryan and Sheila M. Ryan, and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers-in-law, Albert Bradford and John M. Ryan Sr.
