KINGFIELD — Looking for something fun to do Saturday, Feb. 14, with or without your valentine? High Peaks Artisans’ Guild offers a free afternoon of valentine-making for all ages from noon to 3 p.m.

Bring old-fashioned paper doilies or make the world’s most cynical valentine, it’s up to you. Basic art supplies provided, but bring whatever you like from home to make your valentine that much more personal and authentic.

Workshop leaders Kelly Sterns and Cindy Taylor Clark guarantee a fun afternoon no matter what your interest.

Sterns, an award-winning teacher, has been a writer/artist in residence for foundations, museums and schools from California to New York. She’s known for playful workshops where anything can happen. Two years ago in Waterville, she led a group to create a poem so long it stretched from an art gallery to the park across the street. A ridiculous idea like making the world’s largest (or tiniest) valentine on Saturday would be just her idea of a fun afternoon.

Clark, a long-time Mainer, is naturally a little more sedate. Known for her expertise in painting and collage, she is also beloved in the area for her quilts.

Between the two of them, whether you favor a traditional valentine, a goofy mash up or something in between, you’ll find something to enjoy. Who knows? There might even be a surprise mini chocolate making workshop.

Drop-ins welcome.
