1934 – 2015
AUGUSTA — Jean P. Caron, 80, of Sidney, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Alfond Center for Health.
He was born in Jay on May 14, 1934, the son of Pierre and Virginia (LeTalien) Caron. Jean grew up in Jay and Livermore Falls. He served two periods in the U.S. Army, the first from 1952 to 1955, and the second from 1958 to 1961.
After leaving the service, he worked for many years at the Augusta Mental Health Institute, retiring in 1985.
Jean loved to hunt and fish and was an avid card player. He enjoyed traveling around the country in his RV and loved his two miniature pinschers, Rusty and PJ. He was an easy-going guy and very happy person.
He is survived by two nieces, Maria Ryder of Poland and Darlene Freudenberg of Sidney; a nephew, Tod Wing, of Sidney; and his godson, Dennis LeTalien.
Jean was predeceased by his parents.
