TURNER — MSAD 52 Adult & Community Education’s Winter/Spring 2015 schedule includes a wide variety of classes.

ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification is a nationally accredited food safety certification program designed for food service managers, directors, chefs, kitchen managers, dietitians, dietary managers and food service staff. Topics include food handling, HAACP, pest control and more. Fee of $165 includes textbook and exam. This two-day class will be held Feb. 20 and 21.

Classes starting the week of Feb. 23 include:

Ballroom Dance – the Basics: Join one of the hottest dance crazes. It’s fun, romantic and a great form of exercise. Sign up now. No partner or prior dance experience necessary.

Ballroom Dance – Beyond Basics: You’ve mastered the basics, it’s time to move to the next level. This class offers dancers the needed variety and versatility to enjoy social dance at its best. The instructor will present the elements of leading and following in a comfortable and natural way.

Bake the Night Away: Learn to mix, knead, proof and shape basic yeast dough. Recipes will be shared. All baking levels are welcome for this hands-on class and children over 9 may attend with an adult. Bring an apron, rolling pin, cutting board and a container to fill and take home.

American Red Cross Blood Borne Pathogen Training: Learn about blood borne diseases and how to protect yourself in order to reduce your risk of contracting bacterial and viral illnesses.

I’m Beginning to Stay Home Alone: A two-session introduction for 8-11 year olds to safety issues they could encounter as they begin to stay home alone for short periods of time. Hands-on activities and discussions are used to learn concepts including: what to do if they feel sick or scared, how to contact a parent and what are they allowed to do when home alone. Students take home an activity booklet with parent notes. This class is being offered this week in Turner. Other sessions later in the spring in Greene and Leeds.

Snowmobile Safety: Learn how to properly operate and maintain a snowmobile. Laws, responsibilities and personal safety will be covered. Passage of a final exam is required. Students under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
