ROXBURY — The Board of Selectmen agreed Tuesday evening to spend $275 from the office supplies budget to print 75 copies of the Ellis Pond Watershed Committee report.

Selectman Tim Derouche, treasurer for the committee, said the panel wanted to know if the town would pay for printing its report.

“The report is 53 pages, two-sided and will be colored,” Derouche said.

The committee has been studying the watershed to identify what sources are contributing to the lake’s contamination.

The investigation began in October 2013, when lake monitors Ross and Christine Swain of Andover observed and helped document an intense algae bloom that lasted for several days.

Board of Selectmen Chairman John Sutton said the town agreed to support the committee in its investigations, and the money could be taken from the Town Office supplies budget.

“It’s not something that we need to put before the people,” Sutton said.

In other business, a resident asked selectmen if there was a way to let people know that the Town Office is available as an emergency shelter, and if the information could be included in the annual Roxbury Town Report.

Derouche said normally the town posts the information on the side of the building. Selectmen said they would look into more effective ways of sharing the information.

Derouche said schools in the area also double as emergency shelters.

The board reminded residents that nomination papers are available at the Town Office. There are three-year openings for a selectman and a town clerk.

The nomination papers can be returned from Feb. 13 to 25.
