1943 – 2015

KENDUSKEAG — John I. Hibbard Sr., 71, a resident of Kenduskeag, passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1943, in North Conway, N.H., a son of Clarence Wilmont Hibbard and Priscilla (Hobbs) Hibbard. He attended school in Bridgton and later joined the U.S. Army, and served during Vietnam.

On May 1, 1982, he married Sylvia E. Bachelder in Leeds.

John worked for many years for H.E. Sargent on road construction as a flagger. He was a former member of the VFW in Lewiston. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and working on model cars.

John is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sylvia Hibbard, of Kenduskeag; his son, John Hibbard Jr., of Lewiston; sister, Charlotte Wentworth, of Bridgton; stepson, Walter Donnell Jr., of Greene; stepdaughter, Elisa Daley and her husband, Rusty, of Dixfield; and his granddaughter, Caitlin Daley.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Alpheas Hibbard Sr.
