SOUTH PARIS — John Neale Richardson, “Jack,” died at his home on Paris Hill on Thursday, Feb. 12. He was 73.
Jack was the son of Solon and Lilymae K. Richardson of Sugar Hill, N.H., where his family owned and operated the Caramat Inn from 1923 to 1979.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from 1962 to 1966, and went on to graduate from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., in 1970. In 1975, he graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va.
In 1968, Jack married Kathleen “Kathy” Bean, who was then teaching in Littleton, N.H. Jack and Kathy moved to the Washington, D.C., area, and lived in Alexandria and Oakton, Va., along with their son, Chris, and daughter, Becky, until 1995.
Jack was with the FBI in D.C. as a fingerprint technician from 1968 to 1970; he later became a special agent and served in that capacity from 1975 to 1995. In 1995, he retired from the FBI, with 23 years of active service. He and Kathy then moved to Paris.
From 1997 to 2014, Jack worked for the FBI as well as other U.S. government agencies as a security investigator/contractor. In addition, utilizing his love — and skill — of building and renovating, he turned some of his furniture restoration into a part-time business.
Jack was an active participant in municipal affairs of the town of Paris since 1996, and was a proud member of the Oxford Hills Rotary Club from 1997 to the present. Both he and Kathy have been very active in the historic community of Paris Hill, where they live, and have been involved with the Hamlin Memorial Library and Museum, as well as the Paris Hill Community Club.
Jack is survived by his wife, Kathy; his son, Christopher Solon and daughter-in-law, Megan Concannon Richardson; granddaughters, Abigail, Emily and Anna Richardson; his daughter, Rebecca Ruth O’Bryan and husband, Timothy “Ty” O’Bryan; and two sisters, Nancy Anne R. Ward and Almamae R. Girard.
