1948 – 2015
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Peter B. Langevin, 66, formerly of Crescent Avenue in Rumford, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Jan. 21, at his home in Alexandria, Va.
He was born in Rumford on Nov. 3, 1948, a son of Antonio and Avetta (Peare) Langevin. Peter was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1967. He then went to the University of Maryland, where he graduated with a degree in accounting and business.
His education was paramount in his career. He had master’s degrees in business administration and accounting, and a number of other degrees continuous to his career.
He embraced many years of public service from the early 1970s until his death. Peter began his career as a court commissioner for the District Court of Maryland. He then started a long career in accounting, first with the District Court in Annapolis, Md.; then working with the Federal Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C., and then as an accountant for the U.S. Army — he was stationed in Germany for many years.
Upon returning to the United States, he worked in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., for the U.S. Army and later the Department of Defense.
Peter received numerous certificates and awards throughout his 40-plus years of public service and was still working at the time of his passing.
He will be remembered as a loving brother, uncle and friend with a ready smile, and he was kind to everyone he came in contact with.
Surviving are his sisters, Clara Allen and husband, Maurice, of Mexico and Jean Weiss and husband, Robert, of Englewood, Fla., and Peru; two brothers, Richard of Peru and his twin brother, Paul, of Rumford; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Annette Arsenault and her husband, Eugene; and a special nephew, Mark Allen.
