1927 – 2014

SOUTH PARIS — Ardine A. Pulsifer, 87, a longtime resident of Norway, was called home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

He was born in Buckfield on June 19, 1927, a son of Kenneth E. and Verna E. Record Pulsifer.

Ardine enlisted in the U.S. Army on Aug. 20, 1945, along with his buddy, Roland Beadoin, who he met up with at the veterans’ home. He served in Korea during World War II. While there, he was in the infantry division and worked as a truck driver. He escorted many officers to different destinations in Korea. Ardine earned the World War II Victory Medal and the Marksmen Medal, and was honorably discharged on April 27, 1947.

He married Mary Millett on Sept. 1, 1945.

Ardine was employed at H.E. Callahan, Paris Manufacturing, C.B. Cummings and A.C. Lawrence for more than 30 years. Later, he worked for Hannaford, The Progress Center, Poland Spring Bottling and Cornwall’s.

He enjoyed going to the coast and gardening. He loved music and was very active with the Norway Baptist Church.

Ardine is survived by his children, Lloyd and wife, Kathryn, of Oxford, Kathy Porter and husband, Michael, of Oxford, Pamela August and husband, Raymond, of South Paris and Terry Masterman and husband, Peter, of South Paris; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Prideaux of Oxford and Apache Junction, Ariz., and Doreen Wilbur of Woodstock; two brothers, Kenneth of Rumford and Harry of Hartford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, on Nov. 8, 2004; and a brother, Clair.
