RUMFORD — 49 Franklin’s Mystic Theater announces the Paper Moon Players’ auditions for “Charlotte’s Web” adapted by Joseph Robinette. Director Keith A. Grassette is seeking six male and six female adults, and 10 children. The play is based on the book by E.B. White. Which the Children’s Literature association named “the best American children’s book of the last two hundred years.”

All the enchanting characters are here: Wilber the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern a young girl who understands what animals say to each other. Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed, the Zuckerman family, the Arables, a barnyard full of clever animals and most all Charlotte who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer.” Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign to save Wilbur’s life with the miracle in her web in which she writes, “Some Pig.” It’s the beginning of a victorious situation which ultimately ends in the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte.

Auditions are 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 22 and Monday, Feb. 23  in the Mystic Theater, 49 Franklin Street, Rumford.  Performances are to be held at 7 p.m., April 24, and 25, and a matinee on the 2 p.m., April 26. Charlotte’s Web will be directed by Keith A. Grassette who will be assisted by Hope Fallon and Carmen DiConzo. Producers are Cindy and Scott Grassette.
