LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Feb. 12 were: first, Sandy Oliver and Richard Champagne; second, Val Asselin and Arnie Burgess; third, Dick Dennis and Ron Maheux; fourth, Gene Brown and Terry Chambers; fifth, Hope Hughes.
The next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19.

Ice fishing derby Feb. 20 in Monmouth
MONMOUTH — Jack Traps Youth Ice Fishing Derby will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, on Cochnewagon Lake.
This is the sixth annual youth-focused, noncompetitive ice fishing derby.
It is free for kids 12 and under. Each child leaves with a a bait bucket, skimmer and a net, and a drawing will be held where three lucky participants will win lifetime fishing licenses.
The whole point of the derby is to get kids off the computer or video games and out on the ice for a fun day of fishing with the family.
More than 500 people are expected on the ice for the day.
Derby benefits Project Graduation
WINTHROP — Winthrop Project Graduation for the Class of 2016 will host an ice fishing derby from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. The derby will take place on the following lakes: Annabessacook, Berry, Cobbossee, Little Cobbossee, Maranacook, along with Narrows Pond.
Participants must weigh in at Norcross Point before 1 p.m.
The first-place winner will receive a set of five Jack Traps; second place, a Jack Traps basket; third place a $50 Visa card.
In the event of a tie in weight, the length will determine winner.
Tickets are $10 to enter the derby and can be found at the following businesses prior to Feb. 21: The Flaky Tart, Thomas Agency, Winthrop Area Credit Union, Full Court Deli, Baker’s Dozen and Cobbossee Bait.
Raffles, food and coffee will take place at Norcross Point from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Door prizes will be drawn at 1, and ticket holders must be present to win.
Frank Connors to speak to Auburn Art Club
AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will meet, weather permitting, at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the Park Avenue Methodist Church.
The speaker will be Frank Connors, who works at People Plus in Brunswick. He describes himself as “pointman” for the baby boomer generation. He is a former newspaper reporter-photographer, town manager, home designer and truck driver. He now busies himself as a cemetery sexton, local historian, gardener and canoe paddler.
Connors loves too talk and tell stories and continues to work on his listening skills. He and his wife, Jane, are restoring the delightful saltwater farm in Brunswick where Jane grew up.
Chairman of this committee is Barbara Randall who will be assisted by Dorothy Prince, Judy Johnson and Jill Jones. Remember, if school is closed in Auburn, there will be no meeting.
Penguins Snowmobile Club meeting
DURHAM — The Tri-Town Penguins Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Durham Fire Station, 615 Hallowell Road.
The club, which serves Durham, Freeport and Pownal, meets on the last Tuesday of each month from September to April.
New members are always welcome.

Wellness Council Breakfast is Feb. 25
LEWISTON — In honor of Heart Health Month, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 8 to 10 a.m., the Wellness Council of Androscoggin County will host a breakfast presentation featuring Peggy McRea, director of outpatient cardiovascular services at Central Maine Medical Center.
A thoughtful discussion on the importance of heart health and the ways you can take care of yourself and employees while at work will be held in the LePage Conference Room at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Home-buying session at Auburn Library
AUBURN — Interested in looking for a home but do not know where to begin? Wondering what your credit score is and what impact that has on your buying a home? Realtor Janice Jannetty will have lots of answers to share about buying a home when she presents Coffee Talk: Real Estate Questions and Answers at the Auburn Public Library at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26.
The casual conversation will also provide lots of opportunities for attendees to ask questions. Real Estate can be complex but being educated and knowing where your resources are will smooth the process.
There is no cost to attend. If you are unable to make it to the library on Feb. 26 or forget to ask a question, Jannetty will also be at the library at 6 p.m. Thursdays, March 5 and 12.
Marine Corps League Detachment
LEWISTON — Marine Corps League Detachment 810 will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. Use the door to the right, with the ramp.

All Marines are welcome. The group meets on the last Thursday of every month, except in November and December.

APL indoor farmers’ market is Feb. 27
AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library invites all ages to one of their biggest family events of the year. The annual Indoor Farmers’ Market will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27.
This family event includes lots of great vendors with a culinary delight of homegrown and homemade foods and treats, plus live music, crafts and exhibits.
The festive event features live music by the Peterson Project and a new exhibit to the annual fair. Members of the Southern Maine Chapter of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America will be demonstrating and exhibiting their needlework. The Embroiderers’ Guild is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to the study and preservation of the art of embroidery.
The children’s department will host a special craft program. Children will be able to come in the room from 4:30 to 6 to make their own bird feeders.
The market is free to the public and is one way the library thanks all community members and community businesses for their wonderful support.
