RUMFORD — After inclement weather forced the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition to cancel its last two networking meetings, they’re hoping next week’s session is a go.

It’s planned for noon Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the community room of the Rumford Public Library.

Executive Director Patricia Duguay said Emma Halas-O’Connor, environmental health campaign manager for the Environmental Health Strategy Center, will be the guest speaker. She will provide a history on the efforts in Maine to reduce exposure to toxic chemicals and speak about the group’s current initiatives.

The Environmental Health Strategy Center, a Maine-based nonprofit, attempts to “protect human health from exposure to toxic chemicals” and to “phase out the use of unsafe chemicals in favor of safer alternatives,” according to its website.

The meeting will allow organizations and programs involved with the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition to report on their activities.

For more information, call Duguay at 364-7408.
