1932 – 2015

AUBURN — Therese B. Auger, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at her home in Auburn. 

Born in Lewiston, on May 3, 1932, the daughter of Samuel and Bertha Hamel, she attended local schools, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1951.

After graduating, Therese worked for the Auburn School Department with the hot lunch program and in the office at Lee Honda. 

Therese was a member of St. Louis, Holy Family and Sacred Heart churches. She served as the secretary for the New Auburn Senior Citizens and was recently working in the kitchen cooking for their gatherings. 

She loved to play bingo and travel to the Oxford Casino whenever she had the chance. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, the love of her life, Andre Auger, whom she married on June 21, 1952; two daughters, Amanda Auger of Auburn and Marie and her husband, David Dittmer, of Scarborough; four sons, Roger Auger of Old Orchard, Maurice* and his wife, Doreen, of Alfred, Lucien and his wife, Peggy, of North Carolina and Roland and his wife, Joleen, of Waterboro; one brother, Donald and his wife, Brenda Hamel, of New Hampshire; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Joyce Auger of Gorham; son-in-law, Calvin Gray of North Monmouth; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

She was predeceased by her parents; and a daughter, Annette Auger.
