1956 – 2015

WATERFORD — Wayne R. Pike, 58, of Waterford, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 19.

Wayne was born on Nov. 15, 1956, in Lewiston, a son of Robert I. and Althea (Rugg) Pike. He attended local schools and graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1975.

After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and retired after 21 years of service.

He was self-employed for many years as a logger before going to work for his brother-in-law, Jeff Ward, doing excavation work for the last 18 years.

Wayne was very involved in the Masons and was a long-time member of the Mount Ti’rem Lodge No. 132 in Waterford. He was also a member of the Harrison American Legion Post No. 139.

When he wasn’t working (or helping others), Wayne enjoyed being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time at the family camp on Nicatous Lake.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Paula (Verrill) Pike, whom he married on Sept. 22, 1979, in South Paris; two sons, Derek Pike and his significant other, Eillie Schwaner of Sterling, Va., and Devin Pike and his significant other, Maeghan Pelletier of New Gloucester; his mother, Althea Pike of Waterford; siblings, Steve Pike and his wife, Vickie, of Waterford, Linda Moynihan and her significant other, Alan Cameron, of Waterford, Bradley Pike of Waterford, Kevin Pike of Norway, Terry Ward and her husband, Jeff, of Waterford, Pam Colby and her husband, Walter, of Oxford, and Robert Pike Jr. and his wife, Tonya, of Waterford; a sister-in-law, Irene Pike of Alaska; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father; and a brother, Jack.
