LEWISTON — March is Youth Art Month and the Maine Art Education Association is celebrating the nationally recognized event with student art exhibits statewide.

The Portland Museum of Art is celebrating its 21st anniversary of hosting the statewide student art exhibit. Two Lewiston Middle School students will have their art hang in the museum from Feb. 28 to March 29 with an opening reception from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.

Exhibiting will be Jayda Johnson (grade 8) for her self-portrait and Luke Robinson (grade 7) for his “Under the Sea” drawing.

A second statewide exhibit will be in Augusta at the Maine Education Association office. That exhibit will be on display until November with an art opening from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 8. Exhibiting will be Tyler Freeman (grade 7) with a drawing and Leeanna Moynihan (grade 7) with a painting.

Lewiston Middle School art teachers are Kay Allison and Kate Cargile.
