LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Feb. 17 were as follows: first, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; second, Rosemarie Goodwin and Mike True; third, Sue Kaluzynski and Jan Arey; fourth, Claire Lyons and Dot Murray; first in B & C, Claire Lyons and Dot Murray; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

Winners on Feb. 23 were: first, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; second, Marta Clements and Dick Allen.

Winners on Feb. 24 were: first, Tom Goodwin and Mike True; second, Jeanine Kivus and David Lock; third, Rosemarie Goodwin and Paul Clement; first in B, Norma and Rick Verrill.

Kindergarten registration in Monmouth

MONMOUTH — Registration for children from Monmouth entering kindergarten this fall who have not previously been in the pre-K program will be held in the morning Tuesday, April 7, and in the afternoon Wednesday, April 8, at the Henry L. Cottrell School.

Children must be 5 years of age on or before Oct. 15.

A copy of the child’s original birth certificate, Social Security card and health record including immunization dates will be needed.

The child will be checked for height, weight, vision and hearing.

Summer Food Service Program info

LEWISTON — The Lewiston School Nutrition Program will offer the Summer Food Service Program during the summer months.

The SFSP provides meals at no charge to school-age children between pre-K and 18 years of age.

Breakfast and lunch will be served weekdays starting mid-June through mid- to late August of 2015.

All meals must be eaten on the site as participants are not allowed to remove food from the parks or playgrounds.

Those running a summer program for school-age children may be eligible.

YWCA to offer family paint night

LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine is accepting registrations for its new six-week Family Paint Night program.

Have you always wanted to paint but questioned your ability? If so, this class is made for you. Family Paint Night will teach how to create and paint a masterpiece each week by featuring a simple painting and simple step-by-step instructions by art instructor Jocelyn French.

Each week participants will be sent home with their creations to frame. This program is a wonderful way to release creativity and spend time with family and friends.

Classes will run every Tuesday beginning March 3 through April 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The program will cost $30 per person for YWCA members, $45 for nonmembers. Call 795-4050 to register.

VFW to serve corned beef, cabbage

AUBURN — A corned beef and cabbage supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, at VFW Post 1603, 588 Minot Ave.

The cost will be $7 for adults, $3 for children.

The Ladies Auxiliary plans monthly dinners.

Bean supper at Gray American Legion

GRAY — The Ladies Auxiliary will hold monthly dinners from 5 to 6 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at American Legion Post 86, Route 100.

The all-you-can-eat meal includes beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, bread and chop suey.

DAR groups continue merger process

LEWISTON — Burnt Meadow Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution of Sabattus and Mary Dillingham Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Lewiston, will meet with Sandra Swallow, Maine state regent, and her Suite on Saturday, March 7, at Ramada Inn’s Fusion Restaurant, 490 Pleasant St., at 11:30 a.m.

It will be an affirmation of the positive merger vote that the chapters held and a continuation of the process of working together to become a new whole within the next year.

The state regent will lead a discussion of topics that are necessary to be decided at this time to make progress.

Pasta supper in Pownal is postponed

POWNAL — The pasta supper scheduled for March 7 has been postponed.

The supper, at North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, was to benefit the food pantry. A new date will be announced in the coming months.

Knights plan bean, casserole supper

SABATTUS — The Knights of Columbus of the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish will sponsor a baked beans and casserole supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Maxwell-Gill Hall, adjacent to Our Lady of the Rosary, 131 High St.

Proceeds will benefit parish programs.

Contributions for the complete supper including desserts and beverages are $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12.

Potluck supper, program by quilter

POLAND — On Sunday, March 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. “Person to Person” will host another potluck supper to be followed by a program presented by quilter Connie Benwitz.
