MEXICO — Wicked killah blizzards aren’t the only cool things happening in Mexico this winter. On Thursday and Friday, March 5 and 6, author and artist of Amazon’s Best Children’s Book of 2014, Kevin Hawkes, will visit Meroby Elementary school.

These days, Hawkes teaches kids, and assorted related adults in evening sessions, all about New England culture, from one of his recent books about the world’s largest baby, “The Wicked Big Toddlah,” who, of course, was born in rural Maine. Hawkes writes about a Bunyan-esque child who playfully blows sailboats across a bay – real ones, pops buckets of blueberries and maple sap into his mouth, and gets his diaper changed with a crane.

The community’s children and their families are invited to join Hawkes for some wicked funny toddlah tales from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5. Come chase those blizzard blues away (until next October) for freakin’ free.
