1947 – 2015
AUBURN — Robert L. Pelletier, 67, of Shaker Road in Gray, passed peacefully Wednesday morning, Feb. 25, at the Androscoggin Hospice House with his loving family by his side.
Bob was born in Lewiston June 30, 1947, the only child to Lucien and Amanda (Fortin) Pelletier. He attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1966.
On May 5, 1973, he married his love, his wife of 41 years, Christine (Cormier) Pelletier. The two have lived and raised their family in Gray since 1976.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve for several years while working as a welder and machinist. He was employed first by General Electric for 13 years and more recently worked at Philips Elmet in Lewiston, where he was a dedicated employee for 24 years before his health forced him to retire in 2006.
Bob, along with his family, was a devoted member of St. Gregory’s Parish in Gray. He enjoyed spending time with his family, annual fishing trips to Cliff Lake with dear friends, sports and his true love of hockey. He could often be heard recalling his days as goalkeeper for his high school hockey team, and later, his years were spent playing in local contractors’ leagues.
Bob was the very definition of the phrase “true family man.” What he will be most remembered for is his boundless devotion to his family. He was a tireless supporter of his children, Brian and Laurie, never missing a practice, a game or a concert. He could always be found standing on the sidelines or sitting in the bleachers, video camera in hand. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Bob and Christine’s marriage and parenting is the legacy that Bob leaves to those fortunate enough to have called him family.
Bob leaves his wife, Christine Pelletier of Gray; his son, Brian Pelletier and wife, Kim, of New Gloucester; his daughter, Laurie Theberge and husband, Jared, also of New Gloucester; grandchildren Nick and Sydney Pelletier and Ethan and Evan Theberge; his mother- and father-in-law, Arlene and Rosaire Cormier of Sanford; and sister- and brother-in-law, Carole and Robert Wright of Riverside, Wash.
He is predeceased by his parents, Lucien and Amanda Pelletier.
