AUGUSTA (AP) — Farmington has joined the growing list of communities named “business friendly” by Gov. Paul LePage’s administration.
The Republican governor said that 31 towns have earned the designation since the program began in 2012.
The state deems a town business friendly after examining issues such as customer service, licensing and permitting and business involvement. The communities that win the award receive two Maine Department of Transportation road signs.
Officials say that Farmington earned the award because of its collaboration with local education institutions and its use of local, state and federal funds for infrastructure and business development, among other things.
