Comedy Night at Guthrie’s, hosted by The Portland Comedy Co-op returns with another great lineup of Maine and New England’s best up and coming comedians.
This month Guthries is bringing one of Boston’s favorite new comedians, Kwasi Mensah. Mensah has never been shy when it comes to the spotlight, whether it was pushing kids out of the way in kindergarten to get his big bow or holding the last note a little too long in his high school production of “Guys and Dolls.” He tries to make up for it by getting you to laugh at his awkward first generation upbringing, his forays into adulthood, and the random thoughts of someone that at 15 still thought he could be a Power Ranger. He runs the monthly showcase Standup++ and co-hosts the Stand Up Sit Down. He’s been featured in the Boston Comedy Arts Festival and the Cleveland Comedy Festival Showcase.
Your closing comedian will be Maine’s own, Mike Johnson. A native son of Waterville, Mike spent the last 3 years honing his comedy skills in Chicago. Here he produced the long-running stand up show, “Make Yourself at Home,” where he worked with comics like Kyle Kinane and others. He has since brought his lovably brash performance style home to Maine where he has been delighting crowds all over the state.
Admission to this event is free though donations are accepted. She Doesn’t Like Guthrie’s, a locally owned and operated, eco-friendly restaurant in downtown Lewiston that offers high quality healthy food while supporting live music and local art, is located at 115 Middle St. The show is open to all ages, though 18 and up is definitely recommended.
