ROXBURY — Residents voted at the annual town meeting Monday evening to raise and/or appropriate $2,500 to create a town website, Board of Selectmen Chairman John Sutton said Tuesday morning.

Sutton said selectmen will put the job out to bid this year after “we figure out what we want the website to include.”

“One resident suggested at the meeting that we find someone who won’t charge us every time we want to make a minor change to the site,” Sutton said. “The idea of a town website seemed to be received really well at the meeting. People will be able to get building permit applications there and have a better idea of when we’re holding meetings.”

The town uses a Facebook page to inform residents of town business.

Voters also raised and/or appropriated $2,500 for the watershed management survey. Selectmen recommended raising $1,476, but Sutton said residents voted to approve the amount recommended by the Ellis Pond Watershed Survey Committee.

Residents also voted to raise and appropriate $9,000 for the town building general maintenance, $2,000 for the town building repair account, and $3,700 for Roxbury Pond beach and boat launch area maintenance.
