BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust will host a panel discussion among local farmers at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Gould Academy’s McLaughlin Auditorium.

Land Trust member Jolan Ippolito said the event is part of the Mahoosuc Land Trust’s “This is Your Backyard” speaker series.

“We have an outreach committee that works to find guest speakers to visit and talk about a variety of different topics,” Ippolito said. “Even if there’s a topic that someone isn’t interested in one month, there’s bound to be something that catches their attention.”

The March 18 event will feature a Maine Farmland Trust representative to moderate a panel discussion among local farmers, Ippolito said.

“We’re still finalizing the farmers who are going to sit on the panel,” he said. “We’re going to screen a movie called ‘Growing Local’ before the panel discussion starts.”

The film, produced by the Maine Farmland Trust, focuses on “the interconnected fates of Maine’s small farms, consumers and the local food movement.”

The series speaker for April will be Max Southam, a Gould Academy student who will talk about a bike trip he and his father took.
