LEWISTON — The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announces that its one-day “Super Saturday Pledge Drive,” held on Saturday, Feb. 7, outperformed expectations, exceeding the drive’s financial target and membership registration goals. The Super Saturday drive resulted in over $108,000 raised for the non-profit public broadcaster and the addition of 223 new supporting members.

The single day pledge format has been very successful to date when held on Thursdays, and this drive was the first to be held on a Saturday. More than 30 volunteers manned the phone lines in MPBN’s Portland studio and received nearly 1,000 calls during the day-long event. Donations also came in via MPBN’s secure website throughout the day.

In excess of 60 percent of MPBN’s $11.2 million budget comes from membership support and local business underwriting revenue.
