1939 – 2015

AUBURN — Robert E. Brown Sr., 75, of Auburn, passed away Tuesday, March 2, at the Hospice House.

Bob was born Dec. 1, 1939, the son of Frank L. Walker and Methyl Cox. Later on, he was adopted when his mother married Ethan Brown.

He married his wife, Ida, in 1951. While in Florida, they renewed their vows in 2000.

He worked as a shoe cutter in Maine until they moved to Florida in 1998. While there, he worked as a mechanic at Mayport Naval Base and Naval Air Station Jacksonville. They enjoyed Florida very much and always had something to do.

In 2010 they moved back to Maine to be with family because of sickness. He and his wife retired in Jacksonville, Fla., he at the age of 70 and she at the age of 69.

Since coming home, they have resided in New Auburn. They have had a great time with family and friends. Bob loved fishing, hunting and NASCAR — his favorite was Dale Earnhardt. They were fortunate to take one last trip in September to Florida to see family and great friends they made while living there.

Survivors include his wife, Ida; three children, Debra Barbioni and husband, Ed Sr., and their three children, Chris and significant other, Laurie, and daughter, Savannah; Eddie Jr. and his three children, Eziah, Preston and Dresden; James and his son, Mark; Robert Jr. and his three children, Gary, Monika and Chad; and youngest son, Michael Brown Sr. and his three children, Brittany Ray and her husband, John, Courtney Brown and husband, Chris, and Michael Jr.; his sister, Arlene Goodman and husband, Jeff, of Florida; his sister, Wilda Dunham and husband, Sid, of Sumner; and three sisters-in-law, Sharon Brown, Edith Brown and Marion Jordan. He had many nieces and nephews and his little Yorkie dog, Rascal, which he loved dearly.

He was predeceased by his father, Frank; mother, Methyl; and adopted father, Ethan; his stepson, Ricky Wright; his brother, Guy Brown; and his beautiful great-granddaughter, Elliana Marie Ray.
