BOOTHBAY  —  An elderly man was hurt and a home is destroyed after fire broke out at a mobile home Saturday night, according to WGME.

Boothbay Fire Chief Richard Spoffard told CBS 13 News that crews received reports of the fire around 5:30 p.m. Firefighters from Boothbay Harbor, Southport, Edgecomb and Newcastle all responded to help.

Chief Spoffard said an elderly couple was inside at the time and that the wife helped her husband out. The husband was taken to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, Chief Spoffard said; the victim’s condition was not clear Saturday night.

The couple’s dogs also escaped the fire. Chief Spoffard said state fire marshal investigators are looking into the cause of the fire, which is not believed to be suspicious.
