We need your help.

The Sun Media Group — which includes the Sun Journal, the Rumford Falls Times, the Advertiser-Democrat in Norway, the Franklin Journal and the Livermore Falls Advertiser — receives over 350 submissions to our community news department every week.

These are announcements about upcoming club meetings and community events, photos of school events, student honor rolls, announcements about grant awards and military honors, notice of public suppers, listings of adult education classes and community health clinics, announcements of school plays and hundreds of other community events and activities.

We reserve space in our newspapers every day for you, our readers, to share news about your activities and invite the community to attend your events. Given the volume of submissions, it takes time for our staff to process everything and ensure items get into the paper in advance of the planned events.

So, we’re asking for your help.

In the past, we required items to be delivered to us a week in advance. We now ask that you submit them at least two weeks before your item needs to appear. Even earlier would be better, but two weeks is the minimum. Submissions received after that might not run in print.

Many, if not most, of your events are planned weeks — sometimes months — in advance, so please let us know about them sooner and we’ll work to announce them as quickly as we can.

While we do accept items by fax and hand-delivery, it takes longer to process these items. The fastest way to get your item into print is to email it to us at [email protected], with a descriptive subject line.

Please include your name and a phone number with your submission in case we have questions. Be sure to include location, and other important details, in this order: who, what, when, where and why. And, the cost.

Please keep it as short as possible so we have room for everyone’s community news.

We want to make sure we get your news in the paper quickly and correctly.
