RUMFORD — The first of three public forums to gather input from residents of the Regional School Unit 10 district towns on how to restructure or close certain school buildings begins at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Mountain Valley High School.
The original three-forum series was cancelled last month because of several snowstorms.
The three options the RSU 10 board, a special Buildings and Grounds Committee, an architect, and Superintendent Craig King will present are:
* Sending all Rumford-area grade-seven to -12 students to MVHS, all Dirigo-area grade-seven to -12 students to Dirigo High School, all prekindergarten through grade-six students to Meroby Elementary School and closing Rumford Elementary School, the former Dixfield Elementary School that now houses the Central Office and Wellness Center, Pennacook Learning Center and Mountain Valley Middle School.
* Sending all Rumford-area grade-seven to -12 students to MVHS, all Dirigo-area grade-seven through -12 students to DHS, all Rumford-area prekindergartners through third-graders to MES, all Rumford-area fourth- through sixth-graders to MVMS, having the central office and Pennacook at DMS and closing RES, Pennacook and the former Dixfield Elementary School.
* Sending all Dirigo and Mountain Valley ninth- through 12th-graders to MVHS, all Dirigo and Mountain Valley sixth- through eighth-graders to DHS; all Rumford-area prekindergarten though fifth-grade students at MES and closing RES, MVMS, Pennacook and the former Dixfield Elementary School.
In all scenarios, the two schools in the Buckfield area would remain the same.
King said other options suggested by the public may also be considered.
The two remaining building forums are scheduled for Monday, March 16, at DHS and Tuesday, March 24, at Buckfield Junior Senior High School.
