1942 – 2015

HANOVER — Clement R. Worcester, 72, died Friday, March 6, at his 23 Baby Brook Lane residence. Clem passed comfortably, with his family at his side.

A lifetime resident of Hanover, he attended elementary school in Hanover and Rumford and in 1961, graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford. Clem also completed a correspondence course in land surveying.

For several years in the 1960s, Clem was in the National Guard and he was employed by the Maine Forest Service, initially manning fire watchtowers on Saddleback and West Kennebago mountains. Then, he became a forest ranger, overseeing Richardson and Mooselookmeguntic lakes.

In 1979, he entered the real estate field as a salesperson at Hayden Realty. In the mid-1990s, he obtained his Designated Brokers License and founded View Point Agency. Clem’s busy life included being a self-employed carpenter and harvesting timber with his son.

For many years, until his retirement in 2014, Clem served as town clerk, tax collector, civil defense director and cemetery sexton in Hanover, and being a notary public, he was offered opportunities to officiate at many weddings. For several years, he served on the board of directors at Vocational Region 9 School of Applied Technology in Mexico.

Clem was a dedicated, long-term member of the Knights of Pythias, in which he attained the positions of grand secretary, grand chancellor and supreme representative for the state of Maine. He also created and published a Knights of Pythias website.

Clem enjoyed telling and writing stories using the pen-name Stubbie Thickett for submissions for publication. For several years, he wrote the Hanover news column for the Bethel Citizen. Throughout his life, Clem enjoyed hobbies including photography, hiking, fishing, playing the guitar and woodworking, but his primary focus was always his devotion to the well-being of his family. He always went above and beyond for his family members.

Donna (Peare) Worcester and Clem were married on Jan. 16, 1976.

Donna survives him, along with their son, Brian Worcester and fiancée, Andrea, of Mexico; daughter, Jenny Tirrell and son in-law, Matt, of Oxford; daughter-in-law, Sara Worcester, of Carthage; grandchildren, Kaylynn, Shawnee, Makala, Ashley and Kolby; two brothers, David Worcester of Hanover and William Worcester and his wife, Gail, of Hanover; additionally, Clem has many loving nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Clem was predeceased by his father and mother, Frank and Louise (Brown) Worcester; and his father- and mother-in-law, John and Alyce Peare.

The family of Clement Richard Worcester extends deepest appreciation to those at the Bethel Family Health Center, Rumford Hospital and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice who assisted Clem and his family through this most difficult phase of his beautiful life, a life he so generously shared with all.
