PARIS — Oxford Hills Music and Performing Arts Association will hold auditions for “On Golden Pond,” a play by Ernest Thompson, on Monday and Tuesday, March 23 and March 24, at W.J. Wheeler Insurance, which is on the second floor of 15 Market Square in South Paris. Registration is at 6:30 p.m. and auditions begin at 7 p.m.

The cast includes three men (Norman, who is 65 or older, and Charlie and Bill Ray, who are both 35 or older), two women (Ethel, who is 55 or older and Chelsea, who is 35 or older) and a boy, Billy Ray, who should be at least 14.

Ethel and Norman Thayer return to their summer home on Golden Pond for the 48th year. He is a retired professor, nearing 80, with heart palpitations and a failing memory — but is as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. Ethel, 10 years younger, delights in all the small things that have enriched their long life together. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her dentist finance, who go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer.

Show dates are June 18 through June 28.

The director will be Jane Whitney Riseman, who can be reached at 743-4686 or [email protected].

Perusal scripts are available at Cafe Nomad and Norway Memorial Library, both on Main Street in Norway, and at the Paris Public Library.
