CANTON — Selectmen voted unanimously Thursday night to set the annual town elections for Tuesday, June 9.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the back of the new Town Office.

The town meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at a place to be determined.

Selectman Brian Keene said the deadline to get items on the ballot is April 23.

Prior to the selectmen meeting, a public hearing will be held May 28 on the town meeting warrant, which will be posted June 3.

Nomination papers will be available starting Saturday, March 14, for one selectman seat — Chairman Donny Hutchins’ term is up in June — five Budget Committee seats and one Planning Board seat, Town Clerk Kathy Walker said. The Town Office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Walker said papers must be signed by at least 25 and no more than 100 registered voters. The deadline to turn in papers is April 27, she said.
