NORWAY — Occupy Oxford Hills will present “Peter Kellman Remembers Selma and the March to Montgomery” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at First Universalist Church, 479 Main St.
The event marks the struggle in the United States for the right to vote for all.
Peter Kellman of North Berwick was in Selma, Ala., 50 years ago on March 21, 1965, the day thousands of civil rights activists and their supporters marched from there to Montgomery, the state capital.
He will provide a first-hand account and answer questions.
A veteran labor leader, political activist and writer, Kellman was in the thick of things in Selma. He remained in the state for more than a year.
In Sumter County he worked with the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee to build political participation. Food and socializing will follow the presentation and discussion. Donations are appreciated.
