WILTON — As part of its Think Local First Campaign, the Wilton Group will support the five sugar houses in Wilton that are participating in Maine Maple Sunday on Sunday, March 22.

The sugar houses will be open, regardless of the weather, for tours and will have delicious treats for visitors to sample and purchase. These tours are fun events for the whole family.

Black Acre Farms on 123 Black Road, Wilton, will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22. Their events will include sugarbush and sap house tours, farm animals to visit, free ice cream with syrup, maple sausage, maple baked beans and other refreshments. They will be selling maple products, including maple cotton candy. Follow the signs from Route 4 in Wilton.

Hall Farm on Route 2 in East Dixfield will have an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, in the old school house and showroom. The adult cost is $8, children younger than 12 cost $5. Tours will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include sugar house and barn tours to see the new calves. Free ice cream with maple syrup will be available while supplies last.

Mystic Valley Maples is on Route 2 in East Dixfield. They will be open from 8 to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22. The showroom will be open, and they will feature maple syrup on ice cream and other treats.

Sunrise Maple Farm is on More Acres Road just off of Route 2 in East Dixfield. There will be an indoor pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 22. A lunch of beans, hot dogs and more will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost for each meal is $8 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12 and seniors 65 and older. The sugar house itself will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Featured all day will be maple syrup with ice cream (while supplies last).

Long Drive Acres Maple Farm is located at 319 Temple Road. They will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 22. Features include tours of their evaporation setup and demonstrations of how to make maple cream. The maple cream demonstrations will start at 11 a.m. The showroom will be open with samples of maple syrup on vanilla ice cream and items like maple cream to buy.

The Wilton Group’s goal is to be an effective resource for a community of engaged citizens. The goal of the Think Local First campaign is to promote and encourage people to shop locally. Maine Maple Sunday is a great opportunity to visit your neighbors who produce maple syrup and support them by buying their products while having fun at the same time.
