FALMOUTH — Maine State Ballet’s premiere of the popular “Le Corsaire” will run from Saturday, March 28, to Sunday, April 12, at its theater in Falmouth.

“Le Corsaire” is a trove of virtuoso dancing and swashbuckling comedy about Conrad, a dashing pirate, and his love for Medora, a beautiful harem girl.

Staged by Artistic Director Linda MacArthur Miele, this exotic tale journeys through a tapestry of captive maidens, rich sultans, sword fights and rescues.

The production boasts $30,000 worth of new sets and costumes by designer Gail Csoboth and a cast of 90 performers.

This is the first full three-act ballet Maine State Ballet has premiered since “Swan Lake” in 2006.

Tickets are on sale online at www.mainestateballet.org or by calling the theater at 207-781-3587.  Tickets cost between $19 and $25, and discounts are available for seniors and children.

There is a $5 processing fee for phone and box office orders, but no fee for online purchases. For more information, visit www.mainestateballet.org.
