FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Children’s Task Force in Farmington will host its 4th annual 5K/10K and Kids Fun Run on Sunday, April 12, in downtown Farmington to benefit programming that aims to prevent child abuse and neglect before it starts.

Participants can register online at: www.active.com, keywords “Run to Prevent Child Abuse,” and sign up for the run of their choice. The pre-registration cost for adults is $20 for the 5K and $30 for the 10K; people may also register on the day of the race for an additional $2. The first 50 registrants will receive free running shirts. For children under 12, the Kids Fun Run is free; children will enjoy a race around the block with ribbons for all. Race fees are tax deductible.

All ages are welcome to participate in the 5K/10K, but no pets, skateboards, rollerblades or bicycles are allowed on the course. To keep runners and walkers well hydrated, the course will provide three water stations.

Participants of the 5K/10K can pay by credit card online or by cash or check on the day of the race. Checks can be made out to FCCTF. Proceeds help to provide community education programming in Franklin County, including the school-based violence prevention education through the Bullying Prevention Program.

Registration and check-in begin at 7:30 a.m. the morning of the race at the FCCTF office on 113 Church St,. Farmington. The Kids Fun Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K/10K will begin at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is encouraged. For more information, call 207-778-6960.
